Hometown Heroes
TAC x COUNTRY RACING VICTORIA
In every town there’s a person whose known for giving the lift home.
It could be the solo cabbie from Balnarring, or the community bus driver who knows the route like the back of his hand, or the lovely mother that drives everyone home, every time. They’re the unsung heroes, they’re on
a first name basis with everyone, and they’ve probably saved more lives
on our roads than anybody else can and will.
So we gave these under appreciated country-town icons
the appreciation they deserve.
Radio
V/O: This is Keith Hornby, a local Warragul cabbie. Keith's also a Hometown Hero.
Keith: It’s a busy time of year. Everybody’s out and about,
getting a bit wild. Some are in better shape than others of course. Let’s just say this cabs seen some things. Some want to talk about their day, or their work or even their life problems. But I don’t mind. It’s all part of the service in Keith’s cab! (Laughs)
SFX: Sound of a busy country town street.
Keith: Seeing them after a few drinks though, it does make you think about what would happen if they didn’t have a lift home. The thought of any one of them getting behind the wheel after a big day at the races sends a shiver down my spine. A recipe for disaster.
Keith: I’m just glad I can help people get home safe.
V/O: Keith Hornby. Warragul Races’ only cab driver.
V/O: There are Hometown heroes in every town.
V/O: Get a lift with yours or plan a safe way home this country racing season.
V/O: Visit URL & Be Races Ready.
